It’s happened to most of us: debt collectors constantly calling – and always at the worst times, like during dinner! Now there is actual data that proves how rude some debt collectors are becoming. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released a report showing that in 2009, the number of complaints against debt collectors was 67,550 – a 50% increase! The FTC expects the number of complaints to rise 13% in 2010.
The Number One Complaint…Too Many Calls!
It is common practice for debt collectors to call excessively – time after time – relentlessly! But as per the FTC’s data, complaints of aggressive and downright rude language increased by 35% – a sign that debt collectors are getting angry.
The number of complaints involving reports of debt collectors threatening consumers was over 2,500!
